PATTERN on PATTERN
Materials: European linen, cotton, cotton padding
The handmade collection of linen Hanten style jackets for adults and kids explores traditional patchwork and quilting techniques. PATTERN on PATTERN draws inspiration from traditional textile design methods while experimenting with shapes, forms and colours to create a modern language.
Patchwork styles serve as a rich tapestry of cultural history and traditions. Each piece, meticulously crafted, represents the unique heritage and storytelling techniques of various cultures. By intertwining our own experiences and influences we can encode a new language and build our own narrative in contemporary patchwork design. Here we have combined bold colors from Asia, heritage knitting patterns from Estonia, and the influences of the vibrant city of London.
PATTERN on PATTERN jackets were showcased during London Desgin Festival 2024 as part of a group exhibition “Crossing Paths and New Design Languages” at Studio Sahil.
